bailing out private companies
The companies we continue to bail out are private companies! People own these companies and make millions. Is it not enough that I buy cars and buy insurance? The government (you and me?) has decided to give billions of our money to these private companies to help them get past the hard times. What about the good times? Did these companies think about putting money away or was it just live it up? Any company that succeeds knows that you must practice smart growth, when things are good you don't just grow as fast as you can, you make sure you can sustain your growth in the future.
I guess the reason for the bail out is due to the stock market crashing. The stock market is as much of a gamble as going to Vegas and putting all of your money on red. People decide to buy stock and I would hope they understand the risk before doing so in which case, it's not the governments place to save them. So what happens if the companies fail? It would stand to reason that Americans would find a way, haven't we always? Would it not encourage small car companies to succeed? Would it not create more opportunity for small insurance companies? It would create jobs for the Americans who lost their jobs if not the opportunity to start their own companies! That is the American way! It is not spending billions of dollars of our own money bailing out people who will continue to fail and need bailouts!
